The Umiltà Awards 2011

Each year, in an effort to support our mission and further enhance the formation experience for our seminarians and priests, the Pontifical North American College sponsors The Umiltà Awards. This year the event will be held on Friday, November 11th, at the Willard Hotel in Washington, DC.

On this special occasion, we will have the privilege of honoring His Eminence Daniel Cardinal DiNardo, Archbishop of Galveston-Houston, and Mr. and Mrs. John F. and Anne Ball, all of whom have exemplified immense dedication to our Catholic faith, devoted support of vocations and priestly formation, and extraordinary generosity toward the North American College. We honor them and thank them by this recognition.

Initiated in 2002, the Umiltà Awards are named for Our Lady of Humility, whose image hangs above the main altar in the Chapel of the Casa Santa Maria, the original campus of the Pontifical North American College on the Via dell’Umiltà in the heart of Rome, which now serves as the College’s house for student priests pursuing graduate studies. Our Lady of Humility has been venerated by the seminarians and priests of the College since its opening on December 8, 1859.

The Umiltà Awards honor those who have shown outstanding support and collaboration with us in our work of priestly formation.  Please continue to pray for us and be supportive of our work.

Each year, in conjunction with the event, the College publishes a Commemorative Journal that offers supporters the opportunity to send congratulatory greetings to our honorees. This serves as an additional way of participating in this very special evening.

We hope that you will consider joining us at the Umiltà Awards in November in an effort to raise funds to support the College’s 150 year old mission of preparing seminarians to serve as faithful priests for the Church in the United States, Canada, and Australia.
