Msgr. Roger Roensch ’58: 1932–2015

The College community mourns the loss of our dear alumnus and friend, Msgr. Roger Roensch, who died here in Rome on Christmas Day.

He was ordained in Rome on December 15, 1957 for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee and was incardinated in the Archdiocese of Washington on August 2, 1989.

In addition to assignments as a parish priest and also as pilgrimage director at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, he also served as Director of the Bishops Office for US Visitors to the Vatican here at the College. Literally thousands of pilgrims over the years were introduced to the Eternal City by Msgr. Roensch and enjoyed his amazing knowledge of the city and history.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 28, 2016 at the Papal Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls. Msgr. Roensch will be buried in the College Mausoleum at Campo Verano. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord. +
