The Pontifical North American College

Sacred Music

The Pontifical North American College Choir performs a variety of sacred music and chant throughout the year, providing a necessary and integral part of the richness of the College’s liturgy. Around thirty seminarians each year, prepare, rehearse, and perform, under the direction of Mr. Leon Griesbach, each week for Sunday Liturgies, at the College’s Diaconate Ordination at St. Peter’s Basilica each October, and throughout the year for various other Feasts and Solemnities. In addition, members of the choir will also periodically sing for occasions as a Schola Cantorum, and will bi-annually host an “Evening of Sacred Music for Advent and Christmas” for those in Rome.

For those interested, in 2009, the Pontifical North American Choir, under the direction of Christopher Berry, also recorded Maurice Duruflé’s Messe Cum jubilo on the occasion of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. This recording is also available on iTunes. PNAC CD Cover
