PROCESS OF APPLICATION FOR
THE NORTH AMERICAN COLLEGE
Thank you for your interest in applying to the Pontifical North American College. In order to submit your application, please follow the steps below. Please note that all pertinent files will be named according to the year of the Fall semester for which you are applying (e.g. a student arriving in the Fall of 2012 will complete all the forms beginning with 2012). | STEP 1: |
Consult the Admissions Timeline for the current year in order to familiarize yourself with applicable deadlines and arrival dates. |
| STEP 2: | The STUDENT Applicant completes the following forms: [2012 Student Application] [2012 Student Forms] The DIRECTOR of Vocations/Seminarians completes the following forms: |
| STEP 3: | Ship the entire admissions application including all of the above forms from the STUDENT Applicant and the Director of Vocations by express courier ONLY (e.g. FedEx, DHL, UPS) by the Admissions Deadline*. Email the Tracking Number for the Application packet to the Director of Admissions at the address listed above. *It is understandable that some of the required documents may not be available by the admissions deadline (e.g. Letter of Recommendation from Rectors, Final Transcripts, etc.). However, please ensure that the admissions packet is as complete as possible when sent. |
| STEP 4: | UPON ACCEPTANCE the applicant must apply for an Italian Visa. Instructions for this process will be sent with the acceptance documentation.
The applicant in consultation with the Director of Vocations reviews the program information provided for the Italian Study opportunities of the current year. If a language program was not indicated in the Summer Plan Form provided with the application packet, then that selection may be made by email to the Director of Admissions. If the Summer Plan Form has not already been submitted, it may be scanned and emailed at this time. The applicant or Director of Vocations reviews the group flight information provided for the current year and submits the Travel Information Form directly to the Travel Agency. |
| STEP 5: |
The student must apply for an Italian Residence Visa. This can only be done after the specific date of arrival has been determined and the student has been accepted. Once the student’s specific arrival information has been communicated to the College, a very specific letter, authorized by the Vatican will be sent to the vocations office. This letter should be presented along with the other materials required for the visa application at the Italian consulate/embassy with jurisdiction over the student’s place of residence. Further instructions are included in the form below. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ACQUIRE THE VISA PRIOR TO ACCEPTANCE. BE SURE THAT THE TYPE OF VISA REQUESTED IS A “TYPE D: STUDY – RELIGIOUS FORMATION” VISA.
