On December 1st, Bernard A. Hebda was ordained and installed as the fourth bishop of the diocese of Gaylord, Michigan. As he begins this new ministry, all of the priests, deacons, and seminarians at the Pontifical North American College wish to ensure Bishop Hebda of our many prayers.

As per NAC custom the Spaghetti Bowl was played Sunday, November 29. Although its historical foundation is uncertain, the annual flag football game that pits the 1st year seminarians against the rest of the house is one of the college’s longest-lived traditions.

The Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, has named the Reverend Monsignor Bernard A. Hebda, Undersecretary of the Pontifical Council for the Interpretation of Legislative Texts at the Vatican, as the new Bishop for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Gaylord. Bishop-elect Hebda, 50, of the Diocese of Pittsburgh, will become the fourth bishop of Gaylord succeeding Bishop Patrick R. Cooney who has led the diocese for the past 20 years. The announcement was made today by Archbishop Pietro Sambi, Apostolic Nuncio to the United States, in Washington, D.C.
