Saturday, 1 December: 9:00.  Collegio Sant'Anselmo, Campo B.
Today the North American Martyrs, the official team name of the seminarians from the Pontifical North American College, competed against students of the Collegio Sant'Anselmo, an international university made up of predominantly Benedictine students. The air was crisp as the Martyrs began their first December game in Clericus history. The cold didn't stop the American fans from coming out in full force and cheering their team on with chants such as Jingle Bells or Santa Clause is Comin' to Town. The Sant'Anselmo team scored early in the first half making the competition fierce. Both teams seemed to be quite skilled in their fundamentals. There were several turnovers and today's passing was intense. However, under the leadership of their coach, Daniel O'Mullane, the NAC boys brought it together scoring two goals in the second half, beating the Benedictines 2-1. Both goals were scored by New Men, Jeff Eirvin, and David Nerbun. The Martyrs do not take the field again until after the Christmas holiday.
