The 150th anniversary Alumni Reunion celebrated one of its highlights Sunday. After a beautiful Mass, a banquet with the traditional three toasts followed. As is the custom of the College, toasts were offered to the Holy Father, to the United States, and to the College itself by Rev. Charles Cortinovis of the Archdiocese of Washington, D.C., the Most Rev. Charles Balvo, Apostolic Nuncio to New Zealand, and Rev. Msgr. Mark Svarczkopf, of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis.
In addition, the Most Rev. John J. Myers, Archbishop of Newark and Chairman of the Board of Governors of the College presented the Founder’s Award. This year’s recipient was His Eminence, William Cardinal Baum. Cardinal Baum is the former Archbishop of Washington, D.C. and served the Holy See as Prefect of the Congregation for Education and Major Penitentiary. After Cardinal Gibbons, Cardinal Baum is the longest serving American Cardinal in our nation’s history. For his long and tireless priestly service, we are very grateful, assure him our prayers, and wish him ad multos annos!
