Sia lodato Gesù Cristo, sempre sia lodato.
With this prayer, Archbishop Timothy Dolan ‘76 began his homily at the opening Mass of the 150th Anniversary Alumni Reunion. The Mass was held at the Basilica of the Holy Twelve Apostles, commonly known as Dodici Apostoli, and was celebrated by Archbishop Raymond Burke ‘75, C’84, Prefect of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura. Joining them were nearly twenty bishops as well as over 150 alumni and the students and priests of both the seminary campus on the Janiculum and the Casa Santa Maria.
As Archbishop Timothy Dolan of New York, former rector of the College, said in his homily, “This church has played a pivotal part in the life of the College, being a par-3 away from the College’s original home on the Via dell’Umiltà, the Casa Santa Maria, close to the two universities where majority of the Alumni studied, and near the Quirinale, the home of our founder Blessed Pope Pius IX.” In the Church of the Twelve Apostles, where their relics are venerated and an annual novena to the Immaculate Virgin is observed, it was most appropriate for the Alumni - those men who were formed for the priesthood in the city of the Apostles and at the College under our Lady’s patronage - to gather there to begin their reunion in the Sesquicentennial Year .
Vergine Immacolata, aiutateci!
